In my monthly energy forecasts, I often talk about zodiac themes, collective transits, and how certain signs may be more activated than others. These patterns can explain why some months feel heavy, emotional, expansive, or transformative — but to understand how these energies personally affect you, it helps to know your own natal chart.
This post will walk you through how to easily pull your chart on astro.com (free, quick, and beginner-friendly), so you can start exploring which signs and planets shape your energetic blueprint.
This is not a reading — but it is a powerful first step on your spiritual self-discovery path.
Why Your Natal Chart Matters (Even If You’re Not “Into Astrology”)
Your natal chart is a symbolic map of the sky at the moment you took your first breath. Many people use it for personality insights — but it’s much more than that.
From a spiritual and energetic perspective, your chart can reveal:
Recurring life themes
Patterns you entered this world with, as well as ones you may have developed over time
The emotional wounds or fears you’re here to transform
Your soul’s natural strengths, gifts, and growth path
Where karmic lessons may show up in relationships, work, and identity
You don’t need to be an astrologer to benefit from this.Even a surface-level understanding of your sign placements can help you make sense of emotional cycles, triggers, and why certain healing themes keep resurfacing.
How to Pull Your Natal Chart (Beginner-Friendly Guide)
You don't need special knowledge — just:
Your birth date
Your birth time (the more accurate, the better)
Your birth location
Then follow these steps:
Step 1 — Go to Astro.com Chart Calculator
Visit: Astro.com → Free Horoscopes → Horoscope Drawings and Data → Create an Ephemeris (or try this link)
This tool gives you a visual chart plus a list of your planetary placements.
You will be asked to create an account at this stage-it is free and you get to save your own chart data.
Step 2 — Enter Your Birth Details
You will be asked for:
Your name and gender (any name is fine — it doesn’t affect the chart)
Date of birth
Exact time of birth (use midday if unknown)
City + country of birth
Click Continue.
Step 3 — View Your Chart & Planetary Placements
You’ll now see:
A circular chart (the "wheel")
A table showing each planet and the sign it sits in
For now, the key thing to note is your placements — for example:
Sun in Sagittarius
Moon in Cancer
These placements alone already tell you which collective energies might influence you most deeply each month.
A quick guide of energetic signatures of each of the 12 signs, and areas affected by each of the planets, might help with starting to decipher what your energetic signature might contain. This is here as a reference tool rather than a code to be deciphered all at once-start with maybe identifying your Sun or Moon, look up the planet's meaning and then the energy of the sign it is in. Does it resonate?

What To Do With Your Natal Chart (Without Needing to Be an Astrologer)
Once you know your placements, you can start looking at your life with new clarity.
Ask yourself:
1. Which signs appear the most?
This often points to the energetic themes you’re here to master.
2. Do you have planets in the sign I mentioned in the monthly forecast?
If yes, you may feel this month’s themes more strongly.
3. How do the descriptions make you feel?
Your emotional response is often the most accurate intuitive compass.
These reflections alone can begin opening a deeper conversation with yourself.
