Hey there, lovely souls! If you've recently had an energy healing session, first off, congratulations on investing in your well-being! Now, as you ride the waves of that beautiful energy shift, it's essential to support your body in integrating the experience fully and detoxing any residual energies. Here are seven tips to help you glide through this process with ease:

  1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

Our bodies are made of 70% water, so this motto is one that actually applies all the time, but is one that for many people doesn't. To belabour that point, the "Human Garage" clinic recently conducted a survey where they found 88% of the 10,000 people they tested were underhydrated, and that this was the underlying cause of a "cascading series of health challenges".

But when your body is integrating and releasing toxins after an energy healing session, nourishing yourself with the "elixir of life" takes on a whole new level of importance.

Water fuels your circulatory system and facilitates lymphatic drainage (so that all the toxins we have released can move through and be released from your body as quickly and effectively as possible).

Sip on water throughout the day to flush out toxins and keep your energy flowing smoothly. Add a flake of sea salt or trace mineral drops like this one to your water to help your body absorb as much of the water as it can (silica and trace minerals help specifically, check out the above linked Human Garage post if you want more fascinating hydration advice).

2. Play some sounds

Depending on how much you research these concepts, you might know that sound's effect on human biology is one that has been surprisingly well demonstrated and almost accepted by large parts of the medical community. Quote by American neuroscientist and podcaster Dr Andrew Huberman. This is why the sound journey I play in my treatment plays such an important part in my reiki sessions. The brainwaves you produce in response to those sounds are very healing. This is why the tracks have been layered and sequenced very intentionally to have the effects on you that I described to you as we went through your session.

In that same sense, I invite you to continue using sound intentionally for at-home self care if you don't already. Sound bowls for the upper chakras can be amazing for headaches, the 174Hz solfeggio frequency can help with physical pain, and there are some amazing grounding frequencies (for example, using the root chakra tone of 396Hz). Plus, pretty much all healing sound will help with inflammation, the root cause of so, so many health conditions (there are tracks for inflammation specifically too though). Just search on Youtube, Spotify or whichever app you use.

Sound frequencies won't always necessarily clear an issue. Although even that I've experienced more than a couple of times. They work really well on specifically energetic issues (ie like trapped emotions). But even with "stubborn physical issues", the right sounds have certainly helped me breathe through some painful experiences with a grace I don't think I would have had without them. So if you have a migraine right now...I'd get this on asap.

3. Nourish yourself from within

Treat your body like the temple it is by fueling it with nutrient-rich foods. Think vibrant fruits and veggies (which also contain loads of water as an added bonus), nourishing grains, and lean proteins. Bonus points for veggies that grow below-ground (these are energetically grounding...and who doesn't want an excuse to eat potatoes). And if the detox does indeed have you down, opt for foods that are easy to digest, like soups and smoothies, to give your body a break while still providing essential nutrients.

4. Sip on some herbal goodness

Herbal teas are like magic potions for your body and soul. Choose blends that support detoxification and relaxation, such as dandelion root, ginger, or peppermint. Not only do they hydrate, but they also help soothe your system and promote gentle detoxification (plus the magicians at Rumi are a fountain of knowledge on this subject, check out this blog post they wrote recently)

5. Take a note from the ancient yogis

Have you ever heard of a Mudra? The word itself is Sanskrit and can be translated as meaning "gesture" or "seal", I like to explain it by describing it as "hand yoga". You may recognise the hand poses from ancient religious artwork, often depicting revered individuals such as the Hindu Gods, Buddha and Jesus holding their hands in a variety of recognisable poses and looking lovingly peaceful. It might confuse you to know, then, that these hand poses are actively prescribed by Eastern Medicine practitioners to this day, for issues ranging from circulatory and reproductive health to inflammation and depression, with a substantial population of patients who swear by these methods.

When you dig into why that would be, you start to glean the depth of quantum knowledge our ancient cultures must have possessed. The rationale behind their function has to do with the body's internal energy circuits (the same ones we will have been stimulating during your reiki session). The idea is that by closing and opening a variety of different circuits (by connecting, folding down and raising different combinations of the fingers), you can stimulate different aspects of your energy system and supplement them with external energies as needed. Crazy right?

As you can imagine, a number of Mudras then exist to support the different functions your body might be needing support with during an energetic detox, I have included 3 below. I would suggest holding each pose for 5-10 minutes while comfortably seated.

6. Ground and connect with nature

Get thy feet in the grass, feet in hands in the dirt, or even just flop on the ground in

your backyard. It doesn't matter how you do it, you just need to connect your field with that of the planet's (the catch: no material blocking your field's interaction with outside's...cough rubber shoes). Bare is best, but that's what makes hands and feet perfect.

This one often sounds too simple almost overseen as a result, but emerging scientific evidence on the practice of grounding is confirming what has been shared in the integrative health community for a while now: grounding has immediate and dramatic effects on a plethora of biological markers (linked studies).

Again, this is another one that is beneficial all the time rather than just when integrating from an energetic healing session. But if your body is having to excrete a large amount of toxins, this simple act is a profound act of support your body is likely to thank you for.

7. A great time to contemplate

As the main function of energy healing involves releasing the trapped energy that has been the root cause of issues and patterns in our lives, your reiki session likely highlighted a few blocks or even patterns in your life. These patterns are likely present in a number of ways, ranging from tying into limiting beliefs, fueling a "role" you may unconsciously play in your relationships (ie putting your needs last to avoid "unsafe" feelings like rejection), or even just explaining the charge behind some of your significant triggers.

ree

Being conscious and aware of the themes that come up in your interactions in the days following the reiki session (particularly when they relate to themes that came up during your session) is useful for understanding more about the pattern you are wanting to release (ie "actually it's when I feel guilty that I end up putting my needs last, but that comes from how my sister used to guilt me like in the trapped emotion we released").

Also, practicing paying attention to the pattern in "real-time" also creates the space for you to notice it happening and eventually choose a new, more healthy response to the trigger (this is the end-goal we are aiming for, and should be substantially easier to achieve because we have "released the emotional charge" of the pattern).

Added bonus: practicing "Gene Keyers" can request GK chapter recommendations to read if relevant (these can sometimes shed light on patterns we have worked on with shocking accuracy, partly because of their connection with astrology)
